OVERVIEW
The Official AEAS Test Preparation Course helps students develop key English skills, including reading, vocabulary, writing, listening, and speaking. The course also focuses on building effective study and test-taking skills that support success in the AEAS test and future academic studies.
Students become familiar with the structure and requirements of the AEAS test through guided practice, regular review, and detailed feedback across all English test components. These skills help students feel confident and well prepared for formal assessments.
The course also introduces students to teaching and learning styles commonly used in Western classrooms, such as those in Australia, the UK, the USA, and English-medium international schools. This supports students in adapting to classroom expectations and participating actively in lessons.
In the Years 7–9 curriculum, students develop English skills relevant to their enrolled module through discussions, projects, and reflective learning activities. Each module finishes with an AEAS practice test, allowing students to become familiar with the test format and understand their English level in each test section.

The Official AEAS Test Preparation Course (Year 7–9) is an AEAS-endorsed test preparation program designed to help students prepare for the AEAS test. The course covers all five AEAS test components – Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Vocabulary.
Students become familiar with the AEAS test structure, question types, and test-taking strategies. Teachers identify students’ individual weaknesses and provide targeted support to help students become test-ready and achieve their desired AEAS scores.
The course follows the official AEAS test preparation curriculum and uses five official AEAS preparation booklets. Classes are delivered by AEAS-endorsed teachers with experience in preparing students for AEAS testing.
- Who should take the Official AEAS Test Preparation Course (Year 7–9)?
The Official AEAS Test Preparation Course (Year 7–9) is designed for international students who are planning to apply for Year 7 to Year 9 entry into Australian independent schools.
Many Australian independent schools require an AEAS test result as evidence of English language proficiency during the admission process. This course helps students become familiar with the AEAS test format, develop test-taking strategies, and improve their performance across all AEAS test components.
The course is also suitable for Australian students returning from overseas, especially those who have studied in a non-English-speaking environment for several years and are preparing to return to an Australian school. If their target school requires an AEAS result to assess English readiness, this course provides focused preparation and support.
- Is an AEAS test report a must-have when applying to an independent school in Australia?
No. An AEAS test report is not a mandatory requirement for all Australian independent schools.
However, many independent schools use the AEAS test report as an important assessment tool to evaluate an international student’s English language proficiency, academic ability, and suitability for entry into the school.
Entry requirements vary between schools, year levels, and individual student circumstances. Some schools may require an AEAS result as part of the application process, while others may accept alternative evidence of English proficiency (e.g IELTS) or conduct their own assessments.
Students should check the specific admission requirements of their preferred school before applying. The Official AEAS Test Preparation Course helps students become familiar with the AEAS test format and develop the skills needed to achieve their best possible result.
- When should I take the AEAS Test Preparation course?
It is recommended that students complete the AEAS Test Preparation Course 3 to 6 months before their scheduled AEAS test. This allows sufficient time to become familiar with the test format, develop effective strategies, and improve skills across all five AEAS test components.
AEAS has a 90-day test retake policy, which means students cannot sit the AEAS test again within 90 days of their previous test. Therefore, it is important that students are well prepared and confident before registering for the official AEAS test.

Yes. AIL is an official AEAS course partner and delivers Official AEAS Test Preparation Courses.
AIL is the exclusive AEAS course partner in Victoria and other Australian states excluding NSW. AIL is also authorised to deliver the Official AEAS Test Preparation Course ONLINE for students in locations where there is no AEAS course partner available.

- What are the teachers’ qualifications?

Yes. AIL teachers can accommodate students who require classes outside school hours, including evening and weekend lessons, to suit students’ schedules in different time zones.
AIL understands that young learners need to balance school commitments and AEAS preparation. After enrolment, the AIL team will work with parents and students to arrange a suitable timetable and ensure effective one-on-one learning support.
- Is the AEAS score guaranteed after completing this course?
No. AIL cannot guarantee a specific AEAS score, as test results depend on various factors, including a student’s English level, learning progress, effort, and test performance on the day.
However, based on AIL’s experience and student results, students who complete the Official AEAS Test Preparation Course typically achieve an improvement of 5–20 points in their AEAS test scores.
