AIL Reaffirms Commitment to Ethical Student Transfer Practices
ASQA and TEQSA have issued a joint sector alert highlighting compliance concerns about overseas student transfers.
The regulators have warned providers and education agents against using commissions, referral fees, incentives or other arrangements to encourage students who have already commenced study in Australia to transfer to another provider.
From 31 March 2026, providers must not pay or offer a commission or other benefit to an education agent for recruiting an overseas student who has already started studying with another Australian provider.
Students may still transfer where they meet the requirements of the National Code. However, transfer decisions should be based on the student’s genuine academic, personal and welfare needs.
AIL remains committed to ethical recruitment, transparent admissions and full compliance with the ESOS Framework. We will continue to monitor our education agents, maintain accurate records and ensure that students’ best interests remain central to all enrolment decisions.

Important Update: Australian Student Visa Application Fees from 1 July 2026
If you're planning to study in Australia, please be aware that the Australian Government has introduced new Student Visa (Subclass 500) application fees.
These new fees apply to all Student Visa applications lodged on or after 1 July 2026, regardless of when you accepted your offer or enrolled in your course.
Student Visa Application Fees

Please note: Students applying for a subsequent Student Visa (Subclass 500) while already in Australia may also be required to pay a Subsequent Temporary Application Charge (STAC) in addition to the standard visa application fee, depending on their individual visa history and circumstances. As eligibility and charges vary from case to case, students are encouraged to check the Department of Home Affairs website or seek professional migration advice before lodging their visa application.
What You Need to Know
- The fee is based on the date you lodge your Student Visa application, not the date you accept your offer or enrol.
- The visa application fee is paid directly to the Australian Government and is not included in your tuition fees.
- Other costs, such as Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), medical examinations and biometrics (where required), are separate from the visa application fee.
- We recommend that all students include the updated visa fee in their study budget before applying.
Good News for ELICOS Students
Students applying to study ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) continue to benefit from a lower Student Visa application fee of AUD $2,050, compared with the standard AUD $2,500 fee for most other study sectors.
Please note: If you are applying for a combined ELICOS + VET package, the Student Visa application fee is AUD $2,500.

Important Update: Onshore Visa Subclasses Changes in Admissions
Dear Students and Agents,
We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to inform you that after carefully consideration and based on the new Migration Strategy, Australian Institute of Language (AIL) has decided, as of today, to suspend all new applications from any onshore individuals holding the following visa subclasses:
- COVID Visa (subclass 408)
- Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485)
- Visitor Visa (subclass 600)
This suspension will remain in effect until further notice.
