    CORE TEXTBOOK

Every student having their own copy of the core textbook is essential to their learning journey. AIL has chosen Empower English (2nd Edition) as the core textbook for its General English classes because it provides the perfect balance of language development, real-world communication, and learner engagement. Developed by Cambridge University Press, the series features practical topics, authentic content, and personalised learning pathways supported by rich online resources. Its clear structure and CEFR alignment enable students to monitor their progress effectively while building confidence and fluency in everyday English.

    BEYOND TEXTBOOK

A good English teacher never focuses solely on textbooks, and a lively General English class should always go beyond them. At AIL, our General English teachers create dynamic and interactive lessons that combine real-life communication with engaging in-class activities — such as role plays, pair conversations, group discussions, show and share, listening tasks, and creative writing exercises. These activities help students apply what they learn in practical ways, building confidence and fluency in both spoken and written English.

Learning at AIL also extends beyond the classroom. Our General English program includes regular excursions and cultural experiences that connect language learning with everyday life in Melbourne. From exploring the Royal Botanic Gardens and Queen Victoria Market to visiting NGV exhibitions and University of Melbourne campus, students experience English in authentic contexts, discover Australian culture, and see the language come to life.

Quality English classes at an affordable price!!

    • My agent recently introduced Australian Institute of Language to me. After comparing with a few English colleges in Melbourne, it wasn’t a difficult decision for me to choose AIL. Based on the study experience I have so far, it is a smart call and even beyond what I expected. Good quality of teaching at an affordable price. At AIL, teachers are very experienced with a lot of in-class activities. Staff are very kind and supportive too. The flexible timetable enables me to have my Intermediate level General English class scheduled in the afternoons and evenings, which gives me more time to experience life in Australia. Now, this is my second last week at AIL as well as in Australia, I truly like the study experience at AIL. It is my privilege to know so many classmates from every corner of the world!!
