High School Preparation

OVERVIEW

At AIL, our weekday After-School Activities program is designed to complement the PSP (Primary School Preparation) and HSP (High School Preparation) timetables while supporting the overall development of Under 18 international students studying and living in Australia.

For young learners, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Extra-curricular activities play a vital role in helping students adjust to a new environment, build confidence, and fully engage with their study experience. Through structured and supervised activities, students are able to:

  • Enhance language development by practising English in real-life, interactive situations
  • Support mental wellbeing by reducing stress and maintaining a healthy study-life balance
  • Build meaningful friendships with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Develop independence and confidence in a safe and supportive environment
  • Gain real-world experiences beyond the classroom
  • Enjoy fun and engaging activities, making learning more motivating
  • Develop cultural awareness through exposure to Australian life and community

Program Structure

Available for: PSP & HSP students (Under 18)

Frequency: Monday to Friday

Schedule: 3.15pm – 5.30pm (after class)

Duration: 2.5 – 3 hours per session

Travel Arrangements

For all off-campus after-school activities, student safety is our top priority. Students are escorted by AIL staff and supervised at all times during excursions to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience.

Transport arrangements may include walking to nearby locations or using public transport such as trains, trams, and buses. Students are required to have a Myki card (or equivalent) for public transport.

*From 1 January 2026, all children and teenagers aged 17 and under, including international students, can travel free on Victorian public transport using the new Youth Myki card.

For more details, please visit Youth myki | Free travel for children under 18 - Transport Victoria

Return Arrangements

At the conclusion of after-school activities, students must return to the MILC campus. From there, students may be picked up by parents or guardians or proceed to the MILC boarding facilities.

For students living in homestay arrangements, they must return directly to their homestay after activities and before curfew. It is not recommended for students to go elsewhere after activities.

All students are expected to follow the agreed transport routes and supervision arrangements. Homestay families are provided with the weekly activity schedules in advance to ensure they are fully informed of pick-up and return arrangements.
