    OVERVIEW

The AEAS School Preparation Course Years 10–12 supports students in transitioning confidently into English-medium senior secondary schools in Australia and overseas, including the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, and international schools.

Students build on their understanding of Western education systems while strengthening advanced English skills and developing independent learning, critical thinking, research, and collaborative classroom skills.

The program also develops essential academic competencies such as time management, assessment preparation, study planning, and goal setting, enabling students to perform effectively in senior school environments.

In addition, students enhance communication skills, cultural awareness, and wellbeing through engagement with school culture, sport, and recreation, preparing them academically, socially, and personally for successful study abroad and international pathways.

    Learning Objectives

    • Demonstrate advanced English proficiency by effectively using academic vocabulary, grammar, and discourse skills across reading, writing, listening, and speaking tasks in senior secondary contexts.
    • Apply independent learning strategies by managing their own study schedules, setting learning goals, and taking responsibility for academic progress.
    • Use critical thinking and research skills to analyse texts, evaluate sources, and produce structured academic assignments and presentations.
    • Participate confidently in classroom activities by contributing to discussions, collaborating in group projects, and responding appropriately to teacher feedback.
    • Develop effective academic study skills including time management, assessment preparation, note-taking, and exam strategies suitable for senior secondary schooling.
    • Demonstrate cultural awareness and intercultural communication skills when interacting with peers and teachers in English-speaking and international school environments.
    • Understand and adapt to Western school systems and expectations, including academic integrity, classroom behaviour, and assessment standards.
    • Promote personal wellbeing and balanced lifestyles by understanding the role of sport, recreation, and healthy habits in supporting academic success and adjustment to study abroad.
