OVERVIEW
The Official AEAS Test Preparation Course for Years 10–12 is designed to help students strengthen their English skills and prepare confidently for the AEAS English test and senior secondary studies. The course develops key skills in reading, vocabulary, writing, listening and speaking, with a strong focus on academic English used in Western school systems.
Students are guided to improve their study habits, organisation and test-taking skills, which are essential not only for the AEAS test but also for success in Years 10–12 and beyond. Through structured lessons, regular practice and clear feedback, students become familiar with the format, expectations and timing of the AEAS test.
The course also supports students in adapting to Western classroom styles, such as independent learning, critical thinking, class discussions and structured written tasks, commonly found in schools in Australia, the UK, the USA and other English-medium schools.
Each learning module finishes with an AEAS practice test, allowing parents and students to see progress clearly and understand the student’s English level in each part of the test. This approach helps students build confidence, reduce test anxiety and feel well prepared for future academic challenges.

- What is the Official AEAS Test Preparation Course (Year 10–12)?
The Official AEAS Test Preparation Course (Year 10–12) is an AEAS-endorsed test preparation program designed to help students prepare for the AEAS test for senior secondary school entry in Australia. The course covers all five AEAS test components – Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking and Vocabulary.
Students develop an understanding of the AEAS test structure, question types, and effective test-taking strategies. Teachers identify students’ individual strengths and weaknesses and provide targeted support to help students become test-ready and achieve their desired AEAS scores.
The course follows the official AEAS test preparation curriculum and uses five official AEAS preparation booklets. Classes are delivered by AEAS-endorsed teachers with extensive experience preparing international students for AEAS testing and Australian secondary school study.
- Who should take the Official AEAS Test Preparation Course (Year 10–12)?
The Official AEAS Test Preparation Course (Year 10–12) is designed for international students who are planning to apply for Year 10 to Year 12 entry into Australian independent schools.
Many Australian independent schools require an AEAS test result as evidence of English language proficiency and academic readiness during the admission process. This course helps students become familiar with the AEAS test format, develop effective test strategies, and improve their performance across all AEAS test components.
The course is also suitable for:
Students transferring from overseas schools into Australian senior secondary education.
Australian students returning from overseas after studying in a non-English-speaking environment.
Students who need to demonstrate English readiness before commencing senior secondary studies such as VCE, IB, or other Australian senior school programs.
- Is an AEAS test report a must-have when applying to an independent school in Australia?
No. An AEAS test report is not a mandatory requirement for all Australian independent schools.
However, many independent schools use the AEAS test report as an important assessment tool to evaluate an international student’s English language proficiency, academic ability, and suitability for entry into the requested year level (e.g. Year 10 & 11)
Entry requirements vary between schools, year levels, and individual student circumstances. Some schools may require an AEAS result as part of the application process, while others may accept alternative evidence of English proficiency (e.g. IELTS) or conduct their own assessments.
Students should check the specific admission requirements of their preferred school before applying. The Official AEAS Test Preparation Course helps students become familiar with the AEAS test format and develop the skills required to achieve their best possible result.
- When should I take the AEAS Test Preparation Course?
It is recommended that students complete the AEAS Test Preparation Course 3 to 6 months before their scheduled AEAS test.
This provides sufficient time for students to understand the AEAS test format, develop effective test strategies, improve skills across all five AEAS test components, and build confidence before sitting the official test.
AEAS has a 90-day test retake policy, meaning students cannot sit the AEAS test again within 90 days of their previous test. Therefore, students should be fully prepared before registering for the official AEAS test.

Yes. AIL is an official AEAS course partner and delivers Official AEAS Test Preparation Courses.
AIL is the exclusive AEAS course partner in Victoria and other Australian states excluding NSW.
AIL is also authorised to deliver the Official AEAS Test Preparation Course ONLINE for students in locations where there is no AEAS course partner available.

Yes. The Official AEAS Test Preparation Course (Year 10–12) can be delivered face-to-face at one of AIL’s campuses.

AIL delivers the online Official AEAS Test Preparation Course (Year 10–12) through platforms such as Zoom or Tencent Meeting.
AIL understands that students in different locations may experience technical limitations or platform restrictions. After enrolment, the AIL team will work closely with parents and students to identify a suitable and reliable online platform to ensure smooth and effective lessons.
- What are the teachers’ qualifications?
AIL Official AEAS Test Preparation Course teachers are highly experienced English language educators with:
• TESOL or CELTA qualifications
• VIT Registration
• More than 10 years of teaching experience in Australian primary and secondary schools
• Extensive experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) students

- We are Overseas. Can AIL teachers conduct lessons outside school hours or on weekends considering the time difference?
Yes. AIL teachers can accommodate students who require classes outside school hours, including evening and weekend lessons, to suit students’ schedules in different time zones.
AIL understands that students need to balance school commitments and AEAS preparation. After enrolment, the AIL team will work with parents and students to arrange a suitable timetable and provide effective one-on-one learning support.
- Is the AEAS score guaranteed after completing this course?
No. AIL cannot guarantee a specific AEAS score, as test results depend on various factors, including but not limited to student’s current English level, learning progress, effort and commitment, and test performance on the day.
However, based on AIL’s experience and student results, students who complete the Official AEAS Test Preparation Course typically achieve an improvement of 5–20 points in their AEAS test scores.
