LanguageCert Academic is an internationally recognised English language proficiency test designed for candidates who plan to study in an English-medium academic environment. It assesses practical academic English across Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, reflecting the skills needed for real study and communication in higher education. LanguageCert Academic is accepted for Australian visa purposes (DoHA)

How long does the test take?
The total test duration is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Is the test computer-based or paper-based?
LanguageCert Academic is delivered as a computer-based test at authorised test centres.
How do I book the test?
You can book your test online through LanguageCert’s official booking. After booking, you will receive a confirmation email with test day instructions.
Can I take the LRW and Speaking tests on different days?
Yes. Candidates may choose to take the Listening, Reading and Writing (LRW) test and the Speaking test on the same day, subject to availability, or on different days within 14 days of each other.
Can I bring my own headphones, pen or paper into the test?
Headphones:
• Candidates must not bring their own headphones. All audio equipment used during the test is provided and controlled by the test centre.

Pen and paper: • During the Listening, Reading and Writing test, candidates complete all responses on the computer. Personal pen or paper is not permitted/provided.
• During the Speaking test, candidates are provided with a blank piece of paper and a pencil by the test centre for note-taking. All notes must be returned at the end of the Speaking test and cannot be taken out of the test room.
How does the combined Reading and Writing time work?
• The Reading and Writing tests are delivered sequentially, with a total combined time limit of 100 minutes.
• Candidates may manage their time flexibly between Reading and Writing. For example, a candidate may complete the Reading test in 30 minutes and use the remaining 70 minutes for the Writing test.
• Once the Reading test has been completed and submitted, candidates cannot return to the Reading test to view or amend their responses. Any remaining time can only be used for the Writing test.
How long are LanguageCert Academic results valid for?
Most institutions accept LanguageCert Academic results that are valid for two years, although this may vary depending on individual institution policies.
Can I reschedule or cancel my test?
Yes. Rescheduling or cancellation is permitted in accordance with LanguageCert’s booking policy. Fees may apply depending on how close the request is to the test date. Please contact LanguageCert via online chat.
Can I retake the test if I am not satisfied with my results?
Yes. There is no limit on the number of times you can retake the LanguageCert Academic.

REQUIREMENTS & NOTES

ID Requirements

Candidates must present one valid, original passport on the test day.

  • The passport must be current (not expired)
  • The passport must be the same document used at the time of booking
  • Photocopies, digital copies, or other forms of ID are not accepted

Candidates who fail to present an acceptable passport will not be permitted to sit the test.

Please ensure that the details on your passport exactly match the information provided in your test booking. Name discrepancies may result in delays or refusal of entry to the test.

 

Test Day Information

At Australian Institute of Language (AIL), LanguageCert Academic tests are delivered according to the following schedule:

 

Test Day Timetable – start time
  • Listening / Reading / Writing: 15:00
  • Speaking: 18:30

 

Arrival Time

Candidates must arrive at the test centre at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time for:

  • ID verification
  • test check-in
  • pre-test instructions

Late arrivals may not be permitted to sit the test.
